QUICK RETURN

A QUICK RETURN pitch is one made with obvious intent to catch a batter off balance. It is an illegal pitch.


DISCUSSION
A quick return pitch (or "quick pitch") is an illegal pitch. [See Rule 2.00 ILLEGAL PITCH] With runners on base it is a balk. With no runners a ball is assessed to the count. The status of the ball is delayed dead and ignored if the batter reaches at least first base.
